Urban was founded in 1993 by Sean Mabberley. The company’s vision was to extract valuable recyclables from construction waste that was destined for landfills. From humble beginnings of processing 24,000 tonnes of materials from a small building at the foot of Main Street, Urban has become Canada’s largest recycler of construction and demolition debris, processing over 200,000 tonnes annually, with more than 90 staff members at its two Metro Vancouver facilities.
