Urban has focused on creating Biofuel from what others consider to be waste. Following European concepts and technology, Urban creates an enhanced Biofuel called Processed Engineered Fuel (PEF). This involves grinding film plastics with wood waste. Plastic is molecularly close to oil and provides enhanced thermal values so that the Biofuel it is mixed with burns more cleanly. Urban has successfully developed a PEF that is currently replacing fossil fuels being burned in the lower mainland.
